DEFINE IT LADY™ was designed specifically for women who want to reduce body mass and maintain a better shape by accelerating and optimising their metabolisms. The product contains SINETROL®, a patented citrus fruit and guarana extract, whose effects have been confirmed by clinical trials, and L-carnitine, which has, again, been comprehensively tested. Both of these substances support one another’s effects. Firstly, the most critical elements are the polyphenols contained in SINETROL®, which function as antioxidants, and the guarana extract – which accelerates lipolysis, which, in turn, facilitates the decomposition of the triglycerides contained in fat tissue cells (adipocytes) into free fatty acids and glycerol.
Following on from this, the effects of L-carnitine kick in, which enables the transportation of fatty acids across the inner mitochondrial membrane into the matrix of the energy centre of the cell, where the compounds are decomposed. The effects of carnitine are further intensified by caffeine, which stimulates lipolysis, green coffee extract (standardised to 50% of ACG chlorogenic acid content), green tea extract (which also has strong antioxidising properties) (Dulloo et al., 1999; Venables et al., 2008), additionally supplemented by the guarana extract.
Improvement of the rate of thermogenesis can also prove to be extremely effective. One of the key factors determining the capacity for exercise is the efficient removal and neutralisation of metabolites in the blood, which shift the blood pH far beyond the norm. An optimum value for the physiological process is a blood pH level of 7.35 – 7.45. A number of buffer systems are active in the body to maintain the acid-base balance within the specified limits. Magnesium citrate, a compound forming part of the product, is a component of the most important blood acidity regulation system, called the bicarbonate buffer. The presence of citric acid anion in the extracellular space makes it possible to increase the concentration of bicarbonate ions, to increase the blood pH level and at the same time, to neutralise the effects of metabolites. Basic magnesium cations are key to maintaining the stability of the blood’s environment, the proper functioning of the nervous system and they contribute to fatigue reduction. The presence of anhydrous calcium phosphate helps maintain the intracellular acid-base balance, both due to the presence of phosphate anion and the basic calcium cation. Another compound which supports the buffer systems is β-alanine. This amino acid, which is included in the product, has a very important regulating role in the body: together with another amino acid (histidine), it forms part of a naturally occurring dipeptide called carnosine. This compound is responsible for the correct functioning of the buffer mechanisms within the muscle tissue, neutralising free radicals and regulating the activity of enzymes. These effects translate to a better adjustment of the body to intense physical exercise, help increase the maximum oxygen absorption (VO2max) and extend the duration of exercise (Culbertson et al., 2010). Taking L-glutamine, which also forms part of the product, may also affect antioxidant defence. This amino acid is the main component of a dipeptide called glutathione, which is one of the most effective systems of free radicals neutralisation in the body.
This product also contains glucuronolactone, which is an important intermediate compound in the metabolism of carbohydrates and which exhibits detoxification properties.
Hyaluronic acid is contained in the product – a very important building block of the extracellular matrix of the dermis, which has excellent water binding properties. Vitamins such as niacin and pyridoxine support proper energy metabolism.
